Special Resources for Schools

Treasure Bay is dedicated to bringing quality books to the classroom and home that help support the reading development and education of young students. Treasure Bay also provides many special resources for schools and educators.

Involving Parents in their Children’s Reading Development: A Guide For Teachers

Involving parents and making them partners in their children’s reading development can make all the difference in helping students to master reading and become avid readers. Involving Parents in their Children’s Reading Development: A Guide for Teachers is full of field-tested material that teachers can immediately use with parents of children from preschool through middle school. Whether teachers are reaching out through a parent-teacher conference, sending material home to parents, or putting together a parent involvement workshop, this book and CD set will provide everything they need—all in a format that is easy for them to customize to meet the specific needs of their students and parents.

The book is written by Bruce Johnson, who has over 25 years of experience teaching reading to children from preschool through high school, as well as to college students and parents. He has designed and presented numerous workshops for parents on how they can help support their children’s reading development. His workshop material has formed the basis for many of the chapters in his book. Bruce holds a Master’s Degree in Reading Education and is currently a Reading Specialist with Merrimack Valley School District in New Hampshire.

CD of Reading Comprehension Quizzes

This CD includes quizzes and answer keys for all We Both Read titles from Level 1 through 3. Each of the quizzes has 10 multiple choice questions and is presented in two formats. The “Print Format” is designed so you can simply select the quizzes you want and print them out from your computer. If your school uses Accelerated Reader or Scholastic Reading Counts, the “Input Format” makes it easier to type the quizzes into those programs. Click here to view this product.

Big Books

We Both Read Big Books are the perfect choice for teachers to use in a group setting to encourage early readers, and even pre-readers, to participate in the shared-reading and discussion of a story.

A key benefit of We Both Read Big Books vs. other Big Books is that they are specifically designed so children can easily participate in the reading with their own pages and appropriately leveled text! Click here to see our Big Books.

Counter Top Display

An attractive display is available for the We Both Read books. It will hold up to 24 hardcover books or 50 paperback books. The display is available for $9.95 or you can request up to one free display for every $300 in books you order (after discounts). To view the display click here.

Research

Research Study Confirms
Significant Improvement in Fluency

An independent research study in four states recently confirmed the effectiveness of the We Both Read series in improving fluency and reading scores. Among participants (reading at least 30 minutes per week with their parents), the use of the We Both Read series resulted in significant improvements on the DIBELS oral reading fluency score. Versus other at-home reading materials, the We Both Read series scored twice the increase in fluency improvement. The We Both Read series also improved children's attitudes about reading and resulted in more independent reading time. Plus, 100% of the teachers participating in the study reported a significant increase in at-home reading.
